Triton ute's torque tops 'magic' 400Nm

Back in 2007 when the "Get Ineluctable" Mitsubishi Triton ute range was introduced, it might have a had a whimpy look thanks to the slapstick shape of its wellside tray, but it had prodigality of grunt via a very good turbo diesel mechanism.

Of 3.2 litres in displacement, it offered 120 kilowatts of power, and 353 newton metres of torque. That was quite good, and I remember that at the New Zealand originate of this ute we were able to use all that grunt to the full by traversing the Wellington coastline all the way around Promontory Terawhiti to the airport.

Now the Triton has been facelifted, and a pre-eminent change has been the introduction of a new 2.5-litre general-rail turbodiesel engine for the four- locale drive versions.

This engine is based on the 2.5-litre component that has always been in the 2WD Tritons, but the shape of the combustion chambers has been changed, the injectors have been modified, and the turbocharger is now a unfixed geometry type so the turbo help pressure has been raised.

Volvo To Test Methane-Diesel Trucks

Volvo Trucks announced that it will set out field tests of methane-diesel engines with eight commercial customers next month in Sweden. The trucks twisted are Volvo FL and Volvo FE models equipped with 7.0 L Volvo diesels.

In the technology that Volvo Trucks will check, the diesel engine runs on a mixture of methane gas and diesel fossil. The solution is based on Volvo's Euro 5 diesel engines with the adding up of a gaseous fuel injection system and pressurized methane gas (CNG/CBG) encourage tanks. The trucks are converted for methane-diesel power in support with Stadspartner using Hardstaff technology.

A feel discomfited amount of diesel is injected and ignited by compression, which in change of direction ignites the methane gas/air mixture. Power and driveability are comparable to that of a conventional diesel truck, the company said. In putting together to reducing fuel consumption, Volvo said that the system allows for diesel-only functional, making it practical for use in areas where the gas sustenance infrastructure is not fully in place.
