Big Test Follows Big Year At Texas

Jeff Gordon won the Samsung 500 in April, ending a maddening fly that had seen the four-time series promote go 0-for-16 (with two last-place finishes) dating to the track’s launching in 1997. And an early-race drive involving points-leader Jimmie Johnson during the Dickies 500 in November provided the last prescribe of Chase drama en route to J.J.’s unprecedented fourth consecutive championship.

Undeterred by those headline-generating events by the Hendrick Motorsports superstars, TMS president Eddie Gossage admitted he’d be bitter-pressed to give NASCAR’s Car of Today a eagerness grade for “quality of racing.”

“As likely as not not. I don’t think so. But I think NASCAR is frustrating to take steps in the right direction to deliver that,” Gossage said this week, anticipating a span of potential game-altering offseason developments.

Goodyear Racing has scheduled a fag out test on the 1.5-mile quadoval here on Tuesday and Wednesday, like to the two-day session conducted this week at sister-quickness Atlanta Motor Speedway. In August of 1964 Carroll Shelby began m on a car that would redefine the newly introduced Ford Mustang. His the cosmos, the original Shelby GT350 , was anything but a "secretary’s" car. The car was first revealed to the heterogeneous public on January 27th of 1965, the same month that Shelby-American moved to its Los Angeles Intercontinental Airport facility. It was the first race-in readiness car ever to be marketed by an American auto maker.

Now, in January of 2010, some 45 years later, Carroll Shelby and his Shelby American visitors have announced the return of the Shelby GT350 for 2011. The spree took place at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction during its Toe Night Gala to honor the 45th anniversary of the first GT350 and first Shelby big slab Cobra.
