Hammer blow
26.01.10
KEITH Costello took his categorize on the rostrum a few years ago in the Ultra lightweight Manx, and his first cousin David 'Hammer' Lumsden stood proud last September when he took his 600 Yamaha to a gifted third place around the most gruelling motor racing performance in the world.
Just before Christmas, I nominated David as my top adjoining rider of the year, and like I said at the formerly, it was a hard decision. To get to a rostrum station over the TT mountain course is an achievement that didn't deep down get the applause that it deserved.
This year David is once again aiming to be back on the 'Holm' for his last go at the Manx, as he feels that it is his best unintentional of getting a better result, and leaving the memories of the Manx behind and progressing to the TT.
The fun of Real Road Racing has been wealthy on in the Skerries area over 70 years, from the old unceasing of the Leinster 200, right up to the up to the minute Skerries Road Races. Like every nation held up and down the country, local under age lads become fixated with the speed and adrenaline, and where there are races there are a bundle of local lads racing.

Motorcycle prices continue to rise
15.01.10
IF you reflection last year's motorcycle price hikes were a paramount blow, then brace yourself for more bad news. Yamaha has announced another big go places across its range, with its YZF-R1 now costing a prohibitive &yard;12,500 compared to £11,000 in 2009, and the YZF-R6 costing a stonking &produce;9,000 compared to last year's &beat;7,500.
Only a few years ago you'd have expected to pick up an all-singing, all-dancing litre superbike for as teeny as £7,000. And there's more - Yamaha's V-Max now costs a bankrupting &thrash;20,000 compared to last year's &comminute;15,000. That's a staggering 25% inflate. Surely only Italian 'exotica' or homologated racers bring in that much, not a Japanese big naked machine!
At the start of 2009 we began to see the fiscal downturn driving up bike prices because of the spiralling fetch of the yen and raw materials, at least that was the manufacturers' excuse.
The value of the British pulverize also took a nosedive, with UK motorcycles without warning becoming extraordinarily cheap for Europeans who'd horde to our shores to buy them and import them back to the continent. This prompted manufacturers to educate our prices back in line with the rest of Europe.
