Paul's Out, But Monta's No Lock
01.02.10
New Orleans unit guard Chris Paul will be out at least a month in the wake of his knee surgery, fetching him off the Western Conference roster for the All-Major game. You'd think this would open the door for Monta Ellis , but I'd bet against it. The way these teams are chosen, Chauncey Billups is the most undoubtedly replacement.
Billups can't compare to Ellis in terms of philosophical scoring and raw entertainment, which used to be what this ready is about. For some reason, in recent years, a steadfast emphasis was placed on winning, and that puts Ellis in a very bad quandary. Billups is a natural-born prizewinner, a big reason why Denver is considered the most serious forewarning to the Lakers in the West.
It's more than that, though. Billups has a whole reputation built through years of classy monkey about. Ellis is just now starting to deliver his mark, in an atmosphere of utter desolation, and a lot of knowledgeable sources ranked him way down the rota of All-Star
