Fire Department buys new truck

It's red. It's scintillating. And it's big and tough.

The new light rescue instrument has arrived at the Seward Fire Department. And none too one day, according to department Chief Dave Squires.

The 2009 Ford 550 crewcab utility box merchandise will replace the old 1983 rescue segment, which Squires said was in poor to average condition. It will also replace the 1989 utility box stuff acquired as a surplus from the electric office.

The new rescue truck holds a troupe of five and will be sent out on accidents that don't require a staggering rig, such as trash fires, medical calls and auto accidents.

The Megalopolis of Seward came up with $155,977 to mask the majority of bill, and volunteers kicked in $2,435 for reserve items.

It will also work as a first-responder and back up to other units.

The be sure of will also receive a new 2009 Spartan machine in May.

According to Squires, the vehicle standards that the bureau operates within were changed at the beginning of this year.

Granholm, Bing tout industry revival at auto show gala

Dressed in a knee-interminably red moiré jacket over a formal louring pantsuit, the governor made a point of citing Ford's big name in sweeping the car and truck awards at this year's show.
