Could Mork and Mickey Mouse save the Kansas Democrats?
26.01.10
Who needs Wiggans, Parkinson or Gates? Kansas Democrats now have two - count up 'em - two candidates for governor.
The newest is Marty Mork. He's a 46-year-old Wichita local, a former Boeing employee now disabled and getting by on group security. He's never held Dick office before, and admits to being a novice when it comes to raising race money.
But he's got a one-of-a-kind eco-devo object: if elected, Mork promises to trade to bring a Disney theme park to Kansas.
"I suppose maybe as governor we could convince Disney to restore b persuade a park here," he said. "I find credible it would be beneficial to the people of the midwest."
Mork describes himself as anti-abortion and encouraging of gun rights. He said he thinks the regulation spends too much and restricts too many liberties. He also thinks marijuana should be legalized and taxed.
Mork joins Herbert West III in the Self-governing fray. West, a disabled paramedic and citizen of Paola, ran unsuccessfully for Miami County Sheriff in 2008.

Mickey Mouse or King Arthur? And the future?
27.01.10
It was a so-so day, with the humming of business and industry (there is an auto-repair store adjacent to my office) filling the air with rands and cents. During a weight of “downtime” (ie procrastination), I was surfing the web and was surprised to peruse of the departure of Mickey Arthur as South African cricket train.
Arthur has always been a figure that never quite received common approval from the Proteas cricketing politick. There were always two camps: either you liked the East London staying, or you did not, simple as that.
His results are filled with excluding highs: the series wins in England and Australia (now that was some tinker's damn good cricket), and drawing in India with the homeside sabotaging the select for the third Test to make an Indian win more ostensible. Based on the back of these results, plus many others, he was the man at the command along with Graeme Smith when South Africa became the mankind’s No 1 ranked ODI and Test playing realm.
His lows include the return series harm to the Australians when they were ripe for the taking, the pinched series against England that has just concluded (though that would be a bit rude) and successive failures in ICC tournaments (two T20 Existence Cups, the Champions Trophy and the 2007 Terra Cup).
